Experienced/Senior Ecologist

  

Ecology Services requires an Experienced/Senior Ecologist to work from our Preston office. 

 

Candidates should be enthuiastic team players and proven ecologists with a professional attitude and commitment to the pursuit of excellence.  They must have at least 3 years post graduate consultancy experience and should be capable of leading and managing projects and dealing with both clients and consultees.

 

Canididates should have experience in conducting ecological surveys as part of ecological impact assessments, including for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).  Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.

 

Our desirable skills include:

  • Phase 1 & 2 Habitat Surveys (Extended)
  • Basic understanding of National Vegetation Classification (NVC)
  • Holder of at least one protected species licences (ideally great crested newts or bats)
  • IEEM membership
  • River Corridor Surveys (RCS)
  • A good knowledge of relevant
    UK and European legislation
  • Excellent report writing skills

It is essential that you can produce high quality reports and excel in team environments that operate within a flat management structure.  You should have a proven track record of project management, impacts assessment and protected species mitigation design.   You should have a strong understanding of the commercial sector; alongside an appreciation of the role that ecological consultancy plays in contributing to sustainable development.
